Representatives from CASA SHaW receive check from Flemington Elks, Cynthia Orsi-Kuhl, Vern Ainslie & Jason Karpi
CASA SHaW addresses a community need for children of all ages that are experiencing child neglect and abuse. In support of their work, on October 3, 2024, the Flemington Elks awarded CASA SHaW with their $2,000 Spotlight grant to support unmet concrete needs to families that they are serving in Hunterdon County. This initiative helps to free up families' cash resources to pay for things like utility bills, car repairs and rent, as well as buy food, clothing and household supplies.

When something unexpected occurs like a car repair or an illness, it can create a profound, and sometimes total economic collapse for families living on the edge. No Car = no work = no rent = homelessness. We know from the research that families with less economic stress have fewer contacts with the child welfare system, this is one small, but very impactful way that we can prevent child abuse and neglect in our community.
The Flemington Elks Lodge has also organized “a baby basket drive” for items that are needed for the new arrival babies. Items such as diapers, wipes, onesies, liquid bath soap, swaddling blankets are some of the items that we are starting to collect. Please drop off your donations in our foyer collection box. Thank you.
